To celebrate the 81st Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia, PT Growth Asia, through its internal badminton club, PB Growth Asia, successfully hosted the 81st Independence Day Special Internal Tournament. Held on Friday, August 14, 2026, the event served as an incredible momentum for all employees to briefly step away from their daily work routines and celebrate the spirit of independence.

The tournament was not just a showcase of athletic skills, but also a testament to management's commitment to work-life balance. "We hope this tournament will strengthen the bonds between divisions and foster a spirit of sportsmanship. Teamwork and spirit on the sports field will impact our performance at the company, thereby improving quality and production," said Hasanuddin, President of the Growth Asia Badminton Club (PB Growth Asia), Technical Department.

That spirit was palpable on the court. Taking place at our go-to venue, GOR Alfaka, the afternoon atmosphere was colored by the proud jerseys of each department. The tournament was met with high enthusiasm from Growth Asia employees, especially the avid fans of the shuttlecock sport.

Unlike typical tournaments, PB Growth Asia implemented a Team System designed to accommodate various skill levels, ranging from Level A down to Z. This system ensured that every employee, whether they play like a seasoned athlete or are holding a racket for the very first time, could participate and contribute to their team. Participants were divided into two teams, Team Growth versus Team Asia.

The matches were keenly contested yet filled with laughter. Intense, long rallies took place in the top-tier categories, while hilariously unavoidable moments occurred at the beginner levels. Players diving to save the shuttlecock were greeted with thunderous applause from the audience. Mutual respect and sportsmanship were truly upheld throughout the event.

"One thing that made this tournament so memorable and broke the ice was the committee’s witty slogan: First Place Gets a Prize, The Rest Get a Silver Lining (Juara 1 Dapat Hadiah, Tidak Juara Dapat Hikmahnya). This phrase truly captures our spirit of togetherness today!" said one of the participants, Herwandi, from Furnace Department.

After going through a series of physically demanding matches fueled by camaraderie, Team Growth clinched the championship with a cumulative score of 335 points, defeating Team Asia, who finished with 309 points. Laughter and warmth accompanied the entire tournament from start to finish

For the team that took home the championship title, the exciting prize from the committee served as a sweet gift for this year's Independence Day. However, for the teams that didn't win, true to the event's tagline, they went home with a "silver lining" (hikmah) in the form of a healthy body, laughter-filled memories, and newfound closeness with colleagues across divisions.

"We deserved this win because we have a strong team," said Carles Sembiring, a representative of the champion team from the Maintenance Department. "Our opponents in the finals were incredibly tough, and it was a real neck-and-neck race for points. But thanks to our team chemistry, we managed to pull through and win."

The PB Growth Asia 81st Independence Day Special Internal Tournament has proven that the sports court is the best place to bridge differences and build synergy. The sweat and laughter shared at GOR Alfaka on August 14, 2026, will surely become sweet stories shared in the corners of our office.

Management hopes that the euphoria and collaborative spirit forged on the badminton court can be continuously carried over into our daily operations.
